So you've found me.

I'm Arik, and this is my little project on the Web.

Who am I? A journalist with a technology jones. I get a kick out of playing with gadgets, especially those meant to be an aid in communications.

What do I do? I cover technology for Forbes.com. That means I cover the semiconductors industry, computer security, consumer electronics, and whatever else grabs my attention. I also write the daily Ten O'Clock Tech column. To see what I'm writing about click here. I've also done the occasional freelance piece for Wired News among others. Of course I'm always looking to expand my freelance horizons. If you want to reach me drop me a line. See the coordinates page for more ways to reach me.

Once in awhile you might see me on TV, either on CNNmoney (formerly CNNfn) or TechTV, or on the occasional radio talk show.

A little background:
I attended the University of Oregon in Eugene (Class of 1993), and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in New York (Class of 1997). Previous jobs have included stints at Electronic News, Internet World, Newsworks.com, and The Idaho State Journal, among other stops. A more formal bio is pending.

I'm also an administrator on Columbia's Class of 1997 alumni mailing list, so if you were in the class and but aren't subscribed to the list, send a blank email to hello-j97@web-server.jrn.columbia.edu to find out how to subscribe.

When not breaking news stories about the chip business or coding html, I like to listen to the world with my Radio Shack DX-398 shortwave radio, (one of these days I'll post a log of what I hear, and maybe an audio clip or two) sample hot sauce, (nothing's better than good ol' Tabasco if you ask me) and explore the greatest city in the world, New York with Maggie, the love of my life.

I've listed the currently active projects down the left-hand side. When new stuff goes online, it'll be listed there.
