Bill: House Bill 1630
Result: Signed into law, 4/96.
Dubbed the "Internet Police Bill," it outlaws transmitting data, "if such data uses any individual name, trade name, registered trademark, logo, legal or official seal, or copyrighted symbol to falsely identify the person, organization, or representative transmitting such data or which would falsely state or imply that such person, organization, or representative has permission or is legally authorized to use such trade name, registered trademark, logo, legal or official seal, or copyrighted symbol for such purpose when such permission or authorization has not been obtained...."
This law may make it illegal for people in Georgia to use a trademarked
phrase in a link to a company's web page.
Bill: House Bill 76
Result: Signed into law, 3/95.
Prohibits online transmission of fighting words, obscene or vulgar speech
to minors, and information related to terrorist acts and certain dangerous
weapons.
